Now Use Foursquare Without Account

What’s this? FOURSQUARE just recently released an update that eliminates the need to make an account? YES!!

And, it will let ANYONE not have to go through that tedious process of having to log in or even create an account. This is perfect, since Foursquare sister app “SWARM” has taken over all of its “check-in” capabilities and separates the two application.

The new Foursquare update will give Google Maps Local Guides, Yelp, and even Facebook Places some competition since they all have one thing in common: they all try to offer their users the tools to find places and businesses around their current location.

Foursquare’s product manager Jonathan Crowley was quoted, “The only reason it took time to nix that requirement is because it wasn’t easy changing the app’s framework. If you think back to the time you’ve registered, you’ll recall that signing up for Foursquare is quite tedious: it doesn’t only ask you to choose “tastes” (types of food and places) you like, it also wants you to link your other social media accounts. Now, both the iOS and Android app can just recommend establishments based on location, making them more akin to local directory services such as Yelp. The good news is that you can still add your preferences (without having to log in) later on if you want more personalized results.”

Visa Use Smartphone To Prevent Fraud

Comments Off on Visa Use Smartphone To Prevent Fraud

Visa has a great idea that will help you fight fraud by using your smartphone.

The credit card company will roll out a new feature in April that allows cardholders to automatically let Visa know where they are using the location services built into nearly every smartphone. The optional service will match up the coordinates of the smartphone with the location of the sale to more accurately predict instances of credit card fraud.

To set up the location tracker, Visa has made deals with card-issuing banks to add the option to their mobile banking apps. Over time, the location service will plot out a home range with a radius of about 50 miles. If the customer leaves that territory, the tracker will send that information to Visa, and the company will be less likely to flag that card for fraud when purchases are made.

New Facebook Policy Allows Social Media Immortality

Comments Off on New Facebook Policy Allows Social Media Immortality

-The Facebook WILL: Social network adds feature that lets a dedicated ‘Legacy Contact’ edit your page after you die.
-US-based Facebook reveals tool to update your page after you die.
-Users can now name a ‘Legacy Contact’ to take over their account.
-The ‘heir’ will not have access to everything but can change key details.
-For example, your picture can be changed, and they can send a final status.

Facebook said the move was in response to hundreds of thousands of requests for such a feature.

Facebook announced Thursday a policy that allows you to designate a “legacy contact,” who’ll be allowed to “pin a post on your Timeline” after your death, such as a funeral announcement. The contact won’t be able to log in as you or read your private messages, but will be allowed to respond to new friend requests, update your cover and profile photos, archive your Facebook posts and photos.

Before, the Facebook profiles of the deceased could only be “memorialized,” deleted or left unchanged after friends or family reported the deaths. Memorializing the profile involves freezing the account, which then no longer appears in searches or public notifications like birthdays, and can be viewed only by the user’s friends.

Here’s how to designate your legacy contact: go to Security and click on “Legacy Contact,” where you’ll be able to select one of your Facebook friends. You’ll also be given the option to send them a pre-written message (which you can edit) that provides information about the policy. Otherwise, the contact will be notified only when your death has been reported to Facebook, and your account is memorialized.

You love your coffee and hate having to wait in line? Starbucks will allow you to skip the line with its new app. How does it work? Download their new app and place your order via your smartphone, walk/drive to your nearest location that you selected, walk in and pick it up. And best of all, the company’s mobile software sorts your payment too, which certainly makes the process that much friendly. But wait there is more, plans for a delivery option are in the works for customers who belong to Starbucks loyalty program — but only in select markets.

“Imagine the ability to create a standing order of Starbucks delivered hot to your desk daily,” CEO Howard Schultz said. “That’s our version of e-commerce on steroids.” The new version of the mobile app is set to arrive in December, with Portland, Oregon getting it first before a nation-wide rollout in early 2015.

Taco Bell Launches Mobile App by Wiping Away Social Media Accounts!

Wow! Now you can get your grub on by ordering your favorite Taco Bell item with your smartphone or tablet with their new app.

Crazy, but Taco Bell shut down all of it’s social media outlets on Twitter,  Facebook and Instagram and then went dark. They built up the hype with the hashtag #ONLYINTHEAPP

Launching its first dedicated app for iPhone and Android, it will let you order whatever you want, from wherever you are. The idea is to funnel the fast food chain’s online following over to its new application. It works like this: After you sync your credit or debit card, you select whatever it is you want to eat. Place your order, stroll over to the nearest Taco Bell, and–ta-da!–a piping hot bag of Mexican Pizzas and bean burritos will await your arrival.

I’m hungry now.

Google is reportedly separating its photos service from Google+

Comments Off on Google is reportedly separating its photos service from Google+

Put another stake in the heart of G+?  We use G+ everyday and to see this amazing feature go on it’s own can be considered a good thing or a bad. We hope that if this at all true, that it will still be part of the experience.

The future of Google+ has been up in the air for several months now — VP Vic Gundotra, the head of Google+, left the company in April, and the product wasn’t mentioned a single time at the recent I/O developer conference. That said, there’s no doubt that the Google+ photo tools are best in class, even with strong competition from Yahoo’s revitalized Flickr, Facebook, and a host of other competitors.
